POSSCA Patrons of South Sound Cultural Arts
About Us
Arts, Education and Community

The arts teach self-discipline and help kids think critically about the world beyond classroom walls. They learn to make decisions in an environment with no standard answers, where creativity and individualism mean more than a standardized response. Powerful stuff for a young learner.

POSSCA Board President

What Are We Doing to Weather the Economic Crisis?
We’ve always run lean – we’re not interested in overhead. We’re interested in helping kids join the school music program or keep their focus on the arts when they head off to college. These are kids and families who really need the help. We’re in a good position to weather the current economic crisis.

And, we’ve taken some extra measures to make sure POSSCA will be around when the economy picks up. For example, the scholarship program is offline. It’s a temporary suspension that conserves resources and gives us time to restructure the program. We plan to offer competitive scholarships once again in 2010, so watch www.POSSCA.org for details.

New & Exciting Fundraiser
We've also canceled the OlyBite and replaced it with a smaller fund raiser – our Holiday Cocktail Party & Art Auction. This event was a tremendous success last year. Our donors had a great time, we promoted and sold the works of Northwest artists and we decided to keep the event as a mainstay of our fund raising activities.

Art in Education Matters
We need you to believe in the kind of community investment POSSCA represents and donate what you can afford. Forty years of strong support for the arts in education is an investment all of us want to see thrive.

A regular $10 donation adds a lot to what we can spend to repair and donate used musical instruments to South Sound schools. Even $20 makes a big difference. Your $20 could be all we need to offer one more scholarship. Help a creative kid. In tough times, every dollar you give counts. Visit the Donate Now page – it’s fast and easy to contribute – www.possca.org.
